Volker Piesczek

Volker Piesczek (born 1969) was born in Klosterneuburg, Austria, and has been a formative figure in the Austrian media landscape for decades. He developed a passion for communication and sport at a young age, which has had a lasting impact on his impressive career as a presenter, journalist and communications trainer.

After completing a solid apprenticeship as a banker at Volksbank Klosterneuburg, Volker Piesczek completed his first degree in political science and political science at the University of Vienna. At the same time, he pursued a career as a professional footballer, playing for Wiener Sportclub in the Austrian Bundesliga. This experience taught him discipline, teamwork and how to deal with public expectations - qualities that also characterize him in his media career.

Piesczek celebrated his breakthrough as a presenter at the end of the 1990s at Premiere Austria and SAT.1, before establishing himself as the face of numerous TV formats in Austria, including ORF. From political programs such as “Österreich um 9” on Puls 4 to sports formats such as “Volltreffer live” and major event presentations such as the “Kitz Legends Night” - Piesczek always proved his versatility and expertise. As a presenter and commentator, he shaped the coverage of major international sporting events such as the European Football Championship and the World Cup for many years. His journalistic work has received several awards, including two Romys as “Most Popular Presenter” (2011 and 2012) and the Eurosolar Prize for his report “Energiestadt Güssing”. Since 2024, Piesczek has been the presenter of “Exxpress Live”, the daily morning news show on Exxpress.at, where he guides viewers through the political and social events of the day with incisive analyses and critical discussions.

In addition to his media presence, Volker Piesczek is a sought-after communications trainer and NLP coach. In collaboration with Intomedia Vienna, he has been training managers and companies in the areas of media training and press relations since 2014. In his private life, he is married to former Green Party leader Eva Glawischnig-Piesczek and is the father of two sons. His passions include golf, music, travel and cooking - interests that underline his down-to-earth attitude and versatility.

As Head of Development and Brand Manager at Pure Place Hospitality GmbH, he is responsible for the development of the new PURE PLACE brand.
